Looking for a Dentist in Georgetown?
Here’s What Your First Visit Looks Like
Georgetown is growing fast, and a lot of the people searching “dentist in Georgetown, TX” right now just moved here — or just decided they’re done with the office they’ve been putting up with. Either way, the hardest part of switching dentists is not knowing what you’re walking into. So here it is, start to finish.
Hammons Family Dental opened its Georgetown office in 2025 at 1502 Blue Ridge Drive, Suite 101 — a few minutes from the square, just off I-35, and about ten minutes from Sun City. It’s the second location of a privately owned practice that has served North Austin for 16 years, and it was built so that Georgetown families wouldn’t have to drive south for the kind of unhurried, explained-on-the-screen dentistry the practice is known for. Two dentists, Dr. Travis Hammons and Dr. Paras Jain, both see patients here.
This guide walks through a first visit the way it actually happens, so nothing is a surprise when you arrive.
Before you come in
Booking takes about a minute online, or you can call or text (512) 713-1101. We’ll ask for your insurance information ahead of time so we can look into your benefits before you arrive — that’s what lets us hand you a written estimate at the end of the visit instead of a number that changes later. If you have X-rays from a previous dentist taken within the last year or so, ask them to send those over; it can save you a set.
Two practical notes that trip people up: the Georgetown office is open Monday through Thursday, 7:00am to 6:00pm, and closed Friday (our North Austin office is open Fridays if you need one). And parking is free, on site, right at the door, with accessible spaces closest to the entrance and a single-level, wheelchair-accessible layout inside — something our Sun City patients ask about often.
What the first visit includes
For new patients, the first appointment is the $129 Complete Care New Patient Experience. It’s a full visit, not a meet-and-greet, and it covers three things:
01A complete exam
The dentist checks every tooth, your gums, your bite, your jaw joints, and the soft tissue of your mouth, including an oral cancer screening. Anything worth discussing gets shown to you on the screen — a photo or X-ray of your own tooth, not a diagram — so you can see what we see.
02Digital X-rays
Low-radiation digital images that show what an exam can’t: decay between teeth, bone levels around the roots, and anything developing below the surface. They appear on the screen within seconds and become the baseline we compare against at future visits.
03A professional cleaning
Unless gum disease is found and a deeper cleaning is needed first, the visit ends with a thorough cleaning and polish. Most first visits run about an hour.
Before you leave, you’ll know exactly where you stand. If everything is healthy, we’ll see you in six months. If something needs attention — a filling, a crown, a wisdom tooth — you’ll get a written treatment plan with the cost, what insurance is expected to cover, and what your portion will be, before anything is scheduled.
What makes this office different
Hammons Family Dental is not part of a dental support organization. Treatment decisions are made by the dentists in this office, not by production targets set somewhere else. Read more on how to choose a dentist in Georgetown.
Request Dr. Hammons or Dr. Jain when you book. Your records and treatment plan are shared, so if you ever see the other dentist, nothing starts over.
Permanent crowns are designed, milled, and bonded on site in a single appointment — no temporary crown, no second trip. Learn how same-day crowns in Georgetown work.
Time is held open Monday through Thursday for emergencies, so a broken tooth or a toothache is usually seen the same day. Details on our Georgetown emergency dentist page.
Children, adults, and older patients are all seen here, and back-to-back appointments for a family are easy to arrange. From sealants to dental implants, every service the practice offers is available at this office.
If dental visits make you anxious, say so when you book. Nitrous oxide and oral sedation are available, and the schedule can be arranged so nervous patients aren’t rushed.
Insurance, the in-house plan, and paying for care
If you carry dental insurance, Hammons Family Dental helps you understand your benefits, explains what your plan is expected to cover, and files claims on your behalf. If you don’t have dental insurance — common for retirees in Sun City and for self-employed patients — our in-house membership plan covers preventive care with no deductibles, no waiting periods, and no annual maximum. Financing is available for larger treatment plans; the details are on our financial policy page. Whichever way you pay, you’ll see the numbers before you commit.
Who this office serves
Most of our Georgetown patients come from Georgetown proper, Sun City, Serenada, Berry Creek, and the neighborhoods along Williams Drive, with a steady number driving in from Leander, Liberty Hill, Round Rock, and elsewhere in Williamson County. If North Austin is closer to your work than Georgetown is to your home, you can use either office — same practice, same standards, same chart. See the Georgetown office page for directions by landmark.
