Dr. Travis Hammons, DDS — founder of Hammons Family Dental, family, cosmetic and implant dentist in North Austin and Georgetown, TX

Dr. Travis Hammons, DDS is the founder of Hammons Family Dental and a family, cosmetic, and implant dentist in North Austin and Georgetown, Texas. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery with honors from the University of the Pacific in 2006, served as a U.S. Army dentist in Germany and Iraq, and has practiced in the Austin area for 16 years. He sees patients at both offices and focuses on dental implants, oral surgery, cosmetic smile design, full-mouth rehabilitation, and sedation dentistry.

His Story

From Army dentist to a practice of his own

Dr. Hammons’ path to dentistry started at Arizona State University and took a two-year detour to Argentina, where he served a mission for his church before returning to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. He graduated with honors in 2006 as a member of the TKO Honor Society.

He then put that training to work for the U.S. Army — two years caring for service members and their families in Germany, followed by a 15-month deployment to Iraq that earned him the Army Commendation Medal. Military dentistry meant seeing every kind of case, often in conditions where precision was not optional. It is where his habit of over-preparing for every procedure was formed.

Back in civilian life, he chose Central Texas and, 16 years ago, took over the North Austin practice that became Hammons Family Dental. The idea was simple: one privately owned office where a family could get everything from a child’s first cleaning to a grandparent’s full-mouth restoration — without being handed a referral for anything complex. In 2025 that same model opened its second front door in Georgetown.

A meticulous dentist by nature, he has spent countless continuing-education hours on dental implants, oral surgery, cosmetic smile design, and full-mouth rehabilitation. The result is that patients in North Austin and Georgetown rarely need to go elsewhere; complex care stays under one roof with a team that already knows them.

Beyond the Chair

Veteran-led. Family-first. Adventure-tested.

A family man at heart

Dr. Hammons is a father of two daughters and a son, and it shows in how he treats your family — a first visit is a chance to build trust, not a procedure to get through.

Mr. Adventure

Mountain bikes, road bikes, the racetrack, cliff diving in the Swiss Alps, rappelling radio towers, jumping out of planes. Not a single broken bone yet, and he lives to tell the tales.

Steady hands, both places

It turns out the same temperament that suits a drop zone suits a two-hour implant case: calm, prepared, and never rushed.
