Two proven ways to rebuild
When teeth are damaged, decayed, or missing, prompt treatment matters — untreated problems lead to more extensive damage, compromised oral health, and even systemic effects. Two workhorses of restoration address them directly.
Dental crowns (“caps”) encase and protect a tooth weakened by extensive decay, a large filling, or a crack — restoring strength, shape, and function in high-quality porcelain or ceramic that blends with neighboring teeth. Many crowns here can even be done in a single CEREC visit.
Dental bridges replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring an artificial tooth (a pontic) to adjacent teeth or implants. Filling the gap prevents tooth shifting, uneven bite, and potential bone loss. In some cases dental implants are the better long-term choice — your evaluation weighs gum health, bone density, and surrounding teeth to recommend the right approach honestly.

The advantages of getting it fixed right
Restored Function
Chewing, biting, and speaking become natural again — enjoy the full range of foods without working around a damaged tooth.
Seamless Aesthetics
Modern porcelain and ceramic closely mimic natural enamel, blending invisibly with your existing smile.
Built to Last
With proper care — brushing, careful flossing around restorations, and regular checkups — quality crowns and bridges last many years.
Prevents Bigger Problems
Protecting damaged teeth and filling gaps heads off tooth shifting, jaw joint disorders, bone loss, and additional decay.
From assessment to final fit
Crowns
Exam and digital X-rays first; then decay or old fillings are removed and the tooth shaped. A digital scan or impression captures the details, and the crown is fitted and bonded — often same-day with CEREC, or via a temporary while a lab crafts complex cases.
Bridges
The teeth adjacent to the gap (abutments) are shaped for crowns, precise measurements are captured, a temporary protects the prepared teeth, and the permanent bridge is placed with proper fit and bite alignment confirmed.
Comfort throughout
Local anesthetic, and sedation options when anxiety is a factor — with transparent discussion of options, costs, and timelines so you decide informed.

Book GeorgetownQuestions patients ask about crowns & bridges
When do I need a crown versus a filling?
A crown is recommended when a tooth is weakened by extensive decay, a large filling, or a crack that jeopardizes its integrity — or to restore a severely discolored or misshapen tooth. Smaller cavities usually need only a tooth-colored filling.
What is a dental bridge and when is it used?
A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring an artificial tooth to adjacent teeth or implants. It prevents the shifting, uneven bite, and bone loss that follow an unaddressed gap.
Should I get a bridge or an implant?
It depends on your gum health, jawbone density, and goals. Implants are often the better long-term solution when bone supports them; bridges excel in other cases. Your evaluation lays out both options transparently — including costs and timelines.
How long do crowns and bridges last?
With twice-daily brushing, careful flossing around the restoration, avoiding ice-chewing, and regular checkups, high-quality crowns and bridges last many years.
Is getting a crown or bridge painful?
The area is numbed with local anesthetic, and sedation options are available for anxious patients. Most patients return to normal activities quickly, chewing and speaking with confidence.
